South Holderness Technology College Isabel Sutton has been chosen as Active Humber’s Humber School Games medal design competition winner. Isabel was chosen from entries submitted across the Humber schools taking part in the School Games and her design will be used till the end of the 2016/2017 academic year.

The School Games runs throughout the academic year with students working their way up to the Level 3 final events run by Active Humber. At the events, medals are awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place students and have previously been designed nationally by sponsor Sainsbury’s.

Earlier this year Active Humber asked students to submit designs for a new medal to use at the final event of the 2015-2016 year. The multi-sport event takes place at Hymers College on 15th July, at which Isabel will be presented with the medal officially. Isabel’s unique and inspired design will now also be used to award athletes at every School Games events until September 2017.

In her entry for the competition Isabel wrote: “The values that I used in my medal are teamwork, honesty and self-belief. I put teamwork around the edge to show that you need to support everybody and co-operate. I put honesty and self-belief in the middle to show that as well as being part of a team, you need to have confidence, be truthful, be courageous and want to do your best.”

Active Humber’s School Games Development Manager Jo McDonald said: “we received so many entries to the competition and it was a tough call to make. Isabel should be very proud of her achievement – she worked hard to capture some of the School Games values in her design. All of the winners of the intercounty competitions will receive this medal throughout the next academic year”.

Congratulations to Isabel!
