Fairtrade Football at Hornsea

Fairtrade Captains

The annual Hornsea Fairtrade football tournament was a great success this year, with 9 teams competing.  This year for the 1st time the event was held on the new 3G astro turf at Hornsea Secondary school, which the children really enjoyed competing on.  We were also all delighted that we were blessed with such lovely warm weather for our evening's tournament, which was organised again by Margaret Knapton, who had secured sponsorship so all teams received a Fairtrade football and a team goodie bag.  Margaret was also able to explain to all the children the concept of Fairtrade products in the community.

There were 2 sections with some very skilful football being played in all the matches.  The ranked positions from each section then played each other in the play offs.  Leven proved to be unstoppable, with their teams finishing top of the leader board for each section, resulting in an all Leven final, which Leven B clinched victory to become Hornsea Fairtrade Football champions!

Congratulations to all the teams for some great football & many thanks to Margaret & the volunteers from Hornsea Secondary School who refereed the matches.
