Fairtrade football at Hornsea
This year, we had a lovely sunny afternoon for our annual Fairtrade Football event, which made a very pleasant change from last year's fog and wind!
Eight schools took part, each fielding a mixed team of six players (nine in the squad) – Beeford, Brandesburton, Hornsea, Keyingham, Leven, North Frodingham, Roos and Sigglesthorne.
All the matches were played using footballs, manufactured under Fairtrade conditions from Sialkot a small town in the Punjab in Pakistan.
Nine wonderful students from Hornsea School and Language College refereed the matches, recorded results and provided refreshments which made the evening run very smoothly. All teams played four matched in their section and then played their 'final' – the corresponding positioned team from the other section. The results were as follows :-
